THE ROAD TO MONEYGALL

To Open 13th Chicago Irish Film Festival

Some people take the high road and some of course the low, but here at the festival we're taking The Road to Moneygall to meet President Barack Obama's long lost cousin Henry Healy. This fascinating and disarming documentary chronicles three years in the live of Henry and his efforts to bring the most famous man of the 21st century to the village that time forgot. Director Ed Godsell will present the U.S. premier of his film and do a Q&A after the screening which we're sure will have a number of anecdotes that didn't make the final cut.

With all the excitement surrounding the silent film The Artist the festival is very excited about its first screening of a silent film Come on Over, a 1922 Samuel Goldwyn film starring Colleen Moore. Yes, the same Colleen Moore that created The Fairy Castle at the Museum of Science and Industry. Denis Scott, president of the Chicago Theatre Organ Society and the Silent Film Society of Chicago will accompany the film that was secured through the support of the Irish Film Institute and the Museum of Modern Art's Film Preservation Center. Come On Over premiered in Chicago on March 11, 1922  making this its 90th anniversary with its festival screening on Sunday, March 4th.

There are many more films to see at this year's fest along with a number of guest filmmakers to make for interesting and exciting after screening discussions.
